Offering Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a field outside of nursing, a path to the BSN

Muskingum University has announced the launch of a new track in its Bachelor of Science Nursing program beginning fall 2020.  The accelerated program (ABSN) is designed for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a field other than nursing and want to join the growing healthcare industry as a registered nurse.

The ABSN program offers a combination of online and face-to-face classes, allowing students to complete their degree in 15 months prepared with the knowledge and skills that employers demand.

“As today’s healthcare industry expands, it is vital to provide educational opportunities for individuals wanting to advance careers or move into this growing industry,” said Muskingum University President Dr. Susan S. Hasseler. “Built on the strength of our traditional BSN program, which has produced a stellar 100% passage rate on the NCLEX licensure exam for the past 4 years, the ABSN  expands our commitment to the evolving healthcare industry while serving a clear regional need for qualified nurses.”

According to Dr. Cindy Wilkins, Director of the program, “the ABSN provides an expedited pathway to a new career in an exciting, in-demand profession.” She encourages anyone interested in the ABSN to request a transcript evaluation as soon as possible so that they can complete the courses required for admission before applying to the program.
