Transformative Campus Initiative Will Dramatically Expand and Enhance Facilities to Support Academic Programs, Athletics, Recreation, and Well-Being

Muskingum University today announced the beginning of construction on the Health & Wellness Complex, a signature project that will expand its role in workforce development, regional health, and technological innovation. The initial phase of the project includes site preparation, demolition of the stadium stands, excavation, and utilities work.

The HWC will support multiple academic programs, collegiate and high school athletics, student intramural programs, and outreach to the community in collaboration with healthcare providers.

“We are carefully and consciously moving forward with our strategic vision to provide students with the facilities and programs needed to thrive in a changing world, to embrace the region and its needs, and to promote economic growth,” said Muskingum University President
Susan S. Hasseler. “Construction of the HWC is an exciting milestone for the University, as the complex will truly enhance the campus experience for our students. We look forward to sharing  updates with the Village of New Concord and regional communities as construction progresses.”

Completion and occupancy of the HWC is projected for fall 2022.  If COVID-19 circumstances permit, the University is planning to host a groundbreaking ceremony this fall, with details to follow closer to the event.
