Kim Gage Rothermel to Provide Muskingum University’s Undergraduate Commencement Keynote AddressMuskingum University’s 177th Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 7 in the Anne C. Steele Center. Kim Gage Rothermel, M.D. (‘71) will be providing the keynote address.
Dr. Rothermel is a distinguished physician and leader. She has been Chair of the Muskingum University Board of Trustees since 2019. She joined the Board in 1997, and has held multiple leadership roles, including chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and member of the Executive Committee.
A retired pediatrician, Dr. Rothermel served in private practice at the Ohio Center for Pediatrics, as a Clinical Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, and as President of the Medical Staff at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She currently serves as a member of the State Medical Board of Ohio.
She earned her medical degree from Rush University College of Medicine in Chicago and trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, achieving board certification in both specialties. Dr. Rothermel earned her Muskingum Bachelor of Science degree in biology summa cum laude. She is a recipient of a Muskingum Distinguished Service Award (1997) and honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree (2010).
For the 177th Commencement, the University will host two in-person ceremonies at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Student Senate Senior Representative, Hallie Crawford, will serve as the student speaker. Both commencement ceremonies will be recorded and live streamed by Orbit Media.
