High School Music Theatre CAMP registration openRegistration is now open for high school students interested in honing their musical theatre skills at the 2019 Summer High School Music Theatre CAMP, June 23-29 at Muskingum University. The registration is open until the camp is filled.
“Talented young people who enjoy Broadway music theatre and wish to explore and strengthen their singing, acting and dancing skills are invited to participate,” said Carol Wilcox-Jones, director of the residential camp.
The CAMP is instructed by an experienced staff of directors, choreographers, voice teachers, coaches and resident counselors, and includes a variety of dance classes, acting sessions, voice lessons, audition rehearsals and scene studies. Evening recreation includes square dancing, swimming, socials and movie musicals.
The ratio of students to staff is approximately 3-to-1 to allow students to receive individual instruction as well as work together in highly collaborative ways. The week culminates in a free public performance presented in Caldwell Hall on the Muskingum University campus. Last summer, students from 20 different schools presented fully-staged and choreographed scenes from 15 different musicals.
To register, participants must fill out a registration form, submit two samples of their singing and provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher. Scholarships may be available. The required CAMP registration form may be found online at muskingum.edu/music-theatre-camp.
The Summer High School Music Theatre CAMP at Muskingum University is made possible in part by state tax dollars allocated by the Ohio Legislature to the Ohio Arts Council.
