Kevin Triskett, a 2007 graduate from Euclid, Ohio, double-majored in speech communication and philosophy. He chose Muskingum for its small student body, beautiful, homey campus and competitive speech and debate team.
After a short stint as Director of Admissions for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, a high school in Cleveland, Triskett enrolled at Cornell University’s Institute for Public Affairs, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration and completed the Education Pioneers Summer Graduate Fellowship, working for Teach for America’s Chicago office.
In January 2012, Triskett joined the Ounce of Prevention Fund; he explains that it is “an influential non-profit that provides and advocates for high quality care and education for children from birth to age five.” After two years in the federal policy division, Triskett recently accepted a promotion to Program Operations Manager for the Educare Learning Network.
Triskett made the decision to pursue graduate studies after studying education policy on his own while working at Villa Angela-St. Joseph. He decided to dedicate his career to closing the achievement gap in America, knowing that in order to make the kind of impact he hoped to make would require graduate level training.
Triskett credits Muskingum with helping him to learn about writing and public presentations – both in his classes and through his competition in four National Forensics Association National Championship Tournaments.
Triskett was also involved in Greek Life – something he’d never anticipated. He explains, “I never expected to get involved in Greek Life. I joined Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia in my second semester and very much the camaraderie and the group's dedication to Muskingum's Music Department.”
