Three of Muskingum University's ensembles will perform. The Wind Ensemble is Muskingum's general band ensemble and draws its repertoire from the classic wind band literature and contemporary works. The ensemble regularly commissions new pieces by current band composers. It goes on an annual tour and performs a range of local concerts. The Chamber Singers is a selective group that emphasizes student ownership of repertory (including a cappella, jazz, commercial, and classical selections, based on student interest), rehearsal structure, and even conducting. The Jazz Ensemble is devoted to the study and performance of a uniquely U.S. American art form. It includes a variety of ensemble configurations, from small combos to a full big band, and performs repertoire including jazz standards, blues, smooth jazz, and everything in between.
