Stephen teaches lower-level and upper-level Geology and Geography courses that include Environmental Geology, Introduction to Well Logs, Petroleum Geology, Subsurface Geology, Structural Geology, World Regional Geography, Physical Geography, Introduction to Earth’s Climate, Weather and Climate, and Introduction to Geographic Information Systems. His recent research has emphasized using GIS to study surface processes such as shoreline erosion along man-made lakes, the occurrence and prediction of mass wasting locations in Muskingum County, and using Landsat data to study land surface changes. He served the university as Faculty Executive Secretary for four and a half years. He has also been chair of the Geology Department for many years.
