Bio

Dr. Gosnell is Religion and Philosophy’s Bible specialist, teaching these courses: Biblical Theology; The Judeo-Christian Tradition; Ethics, Reason and the Bible; Women and the Bible; Old Testament Literature; History and the Bible; New Testament Literature; and Jesus in the New Testament. He’s most excited about helping people understand what the Bible’s writings communicate, and he encourages students to read them carefully. These days he’s writing on biblical ethics, asking readers to discern the Bible’s thought patterns for handling good and evil instead of just identifying issue-specific instructions--the premise behind his book, The Ethical Vision of the Bible (IVP). He’s currently focusing on ethics in the Gospel According to Luke. He also advises the Muskingum Christian Fellowship, affiliated with Cru, a national Christian outreach organization.
