Virginia Elizabeth [Griffith] Reppart, 94, Adena, Ohio, passed unexpectedly from this life at her home on October 22, 2017. She was born at home near Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, on December 26, 1922, to parents Weir B. and Dora Griffith.
She had a long and happy life and made and kept close many friends and family along the way.
She graduated from Muskingum College in 1944 and began teaching chemistry in Hopedale, Ohio. The remainder of her teaching career was spent teaching home economics in Scio, Ohio and Dillonvale, Ohio. Because of her curriculum and the vocational requirement that she make visits to her students’ homes, she formed lifelong bonds with many of her students. A great example of this was the frequent luncheon with her chemistry students from that first class.
She was an active member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, Ohio, and was well known for her coconut cake and willingness to participate in everything. One of her favorite activities was hostessing the annual Christmas meeting of the church’s women’s association in her home.
Her first marriage to Harvey Nelms ended abruptly with his death in 1968. This left her with two children, Lyndee Nelms and Tom Nelms (deceased 2000). She also quickly became Mom to Lyndee’s husband Jeff Sabri and was a beloved Grandma to Tom’s daughter Tiffanie, her husband Ty, and sons Nick and Alex.
Her second marriage to Wayne Reppart in 1989 was also cut short by his death in 1996. That marriage brought her two step-daughters, Bonnie Caudill (deceased) and Pat Browne.
Calling hours were held at Borkoski Funeral Home, 111 S. Bridge St., Adena, Ohio, on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and from noon until time of funeral service at 1 pm Friday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Harrisville, Ohio.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, POB 16, Harrisville, OH 43974 or to The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, 407 S. 4th St., Steubenville, OH 43952. Please put Reppart Memorial for Adena Branch on the memo line.
