Jeffrey Reed

1970

After serving as Dean of the School of Business at Marian University Wisconsin since 2008, and Professor of Management since 2006, Jeffrey Reed resigned his administrative position at Marian and began a sabbatical in June 2017. During the 2017-18 Rotary year, he serves as Governor of Rotary International District 6270, serving 54 Rotary Clubs in Wisconsin.  A member of the Rotary Club of Fond du Lac Morning, in March 2017 he traveled to Peru to visit soy cow and soy bakery Rotary Project Sites. In January 2018, he traveled to South India on a Rotary Friendship Exchange tour. Previously, he traveled as a site visitor to observe the Rotary micro-loan project in Irkutsk, Siberia, Russia.

Jeff has also served in leadership roles with the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, Wisconsin State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Midwest Leadership School, Central Midwest District of the UUA, Midwest Unitarian Universalist Conference and on boards of several organizations.

His wife Sylvia (PhD, St. Louis University) retired from her position in Institutional Research at Marian University and serves on three non-profit boards in Fond du Lac. Their son Daniel (ND, NCNM) is in practice as a Naturopath in Salt Lake City, UT.

In his free time, Jeff enjoys travel (there are still a few places on his bucket list), playing the piano at the Open Circle fellowship, and their prairie garden.

Jeffrey G. Reed, Ph.D. recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators

Jeffrey G. Reed, Retired Organization Psychologist and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education and organizational psychology.

Dr. Reed entered his profession to follow in the footsteps of his mother, who was a teacher. He attended Muskingum College and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He later received a master’s degree from Towson University and a subsequent PhD from Kansas State University, both in psychology. His educational background set him up for a full and prosperous career. Dr. Reed worked as an assistant professor of industrial and organizational psychology at the State University of New York, Geneseo, from 1979 to 1983. Later, from 1985 to 1996, Dr. Reed worked his way up the professional ranks of Xerox Corporation, holding titles such as user interface developer, electronics and system software manager, and ultimately, planning and process manager. He then transitioned to a career in education at Marian College in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin, where he taught and directed in the management program from 1998 until 2019. Dr. Reed was also the dean of the Marian University School of Business in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 2008 until 2017. He cites his moves through the higher education and consulting industries as the highlights of his career.

Dr. Reed is additionally an accomplished author and has contributed to many professional articles and papers throughout his career. In recognition of his success, he has been honored multiple times by the Xerox Corporation, those honors include the Teamwork Award and the Special Merit Award. In 2008, he was inducted into Sigma Beta Delta, and he is currently the president of the Fond Du Lac Morning Rotary, among several other professional organizations in which he participates. He has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who in the East, as well as the 27th edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest and the 12th edition of Who’s Who in the World.

ABCA announces Hall of Fame Class of 2022

The American Baseball Coaches Association has announced seven individuals to be inducted to the
ABCA Hall of Fame in January 2022.


The ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2022 includes:

The 2022 ABCA Hall of Fame Banquet induction ceremony will be held during the 78th annual ABCA
Convention on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at the Marriott Marquis in Chicago, Illinois. The 2022 ceremony
will also include the induction of the eight-member ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2021 due to the
cancellation of the in-person 2021 ABCA Convention.


Tickets for the event will be available for purchase online. ABCA members will be able to purchase
tickets through their Convention registration. Those wishing to attend the banquet only will be able to
purchase tickets beginning September 1.


Induction to the ABCA Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the organization. The ABCA
was founded in 1945 and the Hall of Fame began in 1966.

Paul Page, Ohio Dominican University
Paul Page served 29 seasons as head coach at Ohio Dominican University before retiring in
2016. The winningest coach in school history compiled a career record of 1,007-552-7 (.643)
and ranked among the top 13 in career NAIA wins (864) and fifth in win percentage (.683) prior
to the program transitioning to NCAA status.


Under Page’s leadership, Ohio Dominican won at least 30 games in a season a remarkable 22
times, including 10 seasons of 40 or more wins. His teams played their way into six NAIA
World Series appearances and captured 11 regular season and nine conference tournament
championships.


In his time at Ohio Dominican, Page produced 39 All-Americans and 20 Academic AllAmericans. Under his tutelage, former Panther southpaw Jonathan Sanchez reached the big leagues and helped the San Francisco Giants to the 2010 World Series title.


The five-time conference Coach of the Year and two-time district Coach of the Year also
served as Ohio Dominican’s Athletic Director from 1988-2004. As Athletic Director, Page
initiated several of the athletic department’s fundraisers and helped improve and expand
many of the school’s athletic facilities.


A native of Williamstown, West Virginia, Page graduated from Muskingum College (Ohio) in
1973, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and was an all-conference catcher.
After his days as a Muskie, Page continued his education at Mississippi State. He coached for
two seasons under ABCA Hall of Fame coach Ron Polk as a graduate assistant before
receiving his master’s degree in health and physical education in 1978.


Page would go on to serve as an assistant coach at Marietta College (Ohio), helping to guide
the program to NCAA Div. III national titles in 1981 and 1983 before taking over at Ohio
Dominican in 1988.

David W. Litt Memorial Fund Scholarship Recipients Announced for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

Ulster fraternity brothers, family and friends of David W. Litt ’78 established a memorial fund in Dave’s honor. The David W. Litt Memorial Fund recently granted $1,750 scholarships to Patrick Kline and Andrew Schneider for the 23-24 academic year. Grants are given to students who demonstrate a marked improvement in their academic performance while at Muskingum and who are involved in leadership activities or otherwise active in campus life. Those wishing to contribute to The David W. Litt Memorial Fund may send their checks payable to Muskingum University, Office of Institutional Advancement, 163 Stormont St., New Concord, OH 43762. Ulster fraternity brothers, family, and friends of David W. Litt ’78 established a memorial fund in Dave’s honor. The David W. Litt Memorial Fund recently granted $1,813.00 to Aiden Gaedcke and $1,813.00 to  Alexandra Huck for the 24/25 academic year. 

Scholarships are granted to students who demonstrate a marked improvement in their academic performance while at Muskingum and who are involved in leadership activities or are otherwise active in campus life.

David W. Litt

Ulster fraternity brothers, family and friends of David W. Litt, a member of the graduating class of 1978, have established a memorial fund in Dave’s honor and will begin the awarding of scholarships from that fund. The David W. Litt Memorial Fund now exceeds $50,000 and will award its first grants in this 40th anniversary year of Dave’s graduation. Annual grants will be given to students who demonstrate a marked improvement in their academic performance while at Muskingum and who are involved in leadership activities or otherwise active in campus life. Also, an equal amount each year will be contributed from the Fund to Muskingum’s Annual Fund to provide general financial aid in Dave’s honor for all Muskingum students. Michael (Mick) Amicone '78 and Harriet Kainaroi Amicone '80 Announce Retirement

Michael (Mick) Amicone '78 and Harriet Kainaroi Amicone '80 have announced their retirement from The Fieldhouse Family of Companies after 31 years as CEO and President respectively.

Muskie Grads, Alainna Amicone Durfee '06 has taken over as CEO for her Dad, and Adam Fitzerald '06 has assumed the position of President/Director of Operations.

The elder Amicones founded the corporation in 1988 after Mick left the accounting/finance field and Harriet left teaching 4th grade.

The Fieldhouse Family of Companies consist of:

*a 115,000 sq ft Sports and Recreation Facility,

*The Fieldhouse Group Limited Consulting  

*SportCO, Institutional Sporting Goods Company

The Fieldhouse Foundation, Founded by Harriet in 2010 as a Ohio 501,c.3 non-profit organization, provides physical and recreational therapy for physically handicapped, disabled and special needs children ages 5 to 21. 

Harriet will remain with The Fieldhouse Family of Comapnies on a limited basis overseeing the Fieldhouse Foundation. Mick will consult and will become more involved with the company's mission and faith based ministry for youth.

Harriet, an active Kianu, was an RA and RD during her time at Muskingum and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Mick was a letterman in Soccer, Baseball and Track. Years later he returned to college at OUZ where he set a college baseball record by making the Ohio Regional College Conference, 2nd Team as a Second baseman and becoming the oldest college baseball player at 61 years of age to play the game.

Mick also retired from high school coaching and refereeing after 40 years of service.

Rev. Robert Martin Receives Doctor of Ministry Degree

1979

Rev. Robert Martin received a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Reformed Spirituality from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, in May of 2022. Rev. Martin has served Presbyterian churches in Chicago, Il., South Bend, IN., Plainfield, NJ, and currently pastors the First Presbyterian Church in Athens, Ohio.

Herb Fitzer, Class of 1979

1979

Herb Fitzer retired from Zanesville City Schools in June of 2014. During his educational career, Herb taught at Meadowbrook High School, Zanesville High School and The Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center. One of the duties Herb enjoyed was coaching young people--he coached Track, Cross Country and Wrestling at Meadowbrook, Swimming, Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track at Zanesville and coached Cross Country and Track at Tri-Valley High School after he retired from teaching. He ended his paid coaching career in 2019 and is presently a volunteer coach at Muskingum University.

David Briggs

David Briggs, director of High Point Theatre, was elected during January’s Association of Performing Arts Professionals meeting in New York to serve a three-year term on the board of North American Performing Arts Agents and Managers and Agents (NAPAMA). NAPAMA is an organization serving the Performing Arts industry professionals in developing ethical guidelines, professional development, best industry practices and works to bridge the gap between artists, management and performing arts presenters.

David started in the performing arts management industry in 1983 and is honored to be part of an outstanding group of industry leaders. His role on the board is to bolster the relationship between the presenters and artists and their representatives. The current board contains 15 industry professionals, with three of the board members representing municipal, non-profit and university presenting. The other twelve board members make up agency representatives/owners, artists and agents.

Laurel Canan, Board President, commented: “We are delighted to have someone with David’s knowledge of the presenting side and his connections to the arts management field. It’s safe to say that everyone on the board was honored that he agreed to be nominated and know that his input will help take the organization to even greater prominence in the field.”
