Assistant Professor of Engineering

The Department of Physics and Engineering at Muskingum University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track engineering faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2019. The Department offers Bachelor degrees in General Engineering and Physics. The General Engineering program includes a broad background in physics and builds on this foundation with aspects of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computational science, and material science. The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.


The candidate should demonstrate potential for, and commitment to, teaching a variety of undergraduate courses including Statics and Dynamics, Materials Science, Principles of Design, and Fluids and their associated laboratories, engineering electives, and departmental service courses. In addition, the successful candidate will support high-impact learning opportunities through the development and maintenance of relationships with industry to support internships, project collaborations, industrial mentoring and Capstone projects. Other responsibilities include serving on University committees, working on curriculum development, advising students, performing research involving undergraduates, and professional service within the guidelines of the University.

Qualifications:
•    A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is required. 
•    Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required. 
•    A materials-oriented and/or robotics background is preferred. 
•    Experience with 3D printing and CAD software is preferred.
