About the CAL Learning Strategies Database
The CAL Learning Strategies Database was developed with
students, instructors, tutors, counselors, and advisors in mind. Though
intended for use in postsecondary contexts, some strategies are applicable
to elementary and secondary education levels while others may be modified
to fulfill such needs. In addition, some strategies may be gainfully used
by members of the work force.
For students, the user-friendly format of the database makes it easy
for users to assess their learning styles, to identify appropriate learning
strategies to capitalize on strengths and compensate for deficiencies,
and to become more responsible for their own learning.
For instructors, advisors, tutors, and counselors, the database provides
information relevant for academically counseling students and enhancing
student success in academe. Instructors may use database information to
plan effective classroom activities.
The CAL Learning Strategies Database is hierarchically organized as
series of web pages arranged into four main stacks. The major topics under
each main stack are often subdivided further.
