Art Strategies

Information Organization

Art-related information may be organized using a number of strategies, including matrices, running concept lists, flash cards, and outlines.

Matrices

Matrices may be used to organize information related to art terms, concepts, artists, and works of art. The matrix template shown below, for example, may be used in Art History courses (REFERENCE).

Running Concept Lists

Art terms and definitions, concepts and explanations, techniques and descriptions, and people and contributions may be organized using running concept lists such as the one shown below.

Flash Cards

Art terms/definitions, lists, and artists/works may be organized using flash cards, such as the examples given below.

Outlines

Formal and informal outlines may be used to organize lecture or text material according to topic or type of information. An example of an informal topical outline is given below (REFERENCE).
