Allison Maykuth '11 has been awarded the Dr. Henry Ward Church Founder's Scholarship from Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign language honorary. She is one of only five recipients in the United States.

Maykurth graduated from Muskingum on May 7 with majors in Spanish, French, international affairs and English.

During her career at Muskingum, Maykuth studied in Guadalajara, Mexico and in Nice, France. She also traveled to academic conferences in the United States, volunteered to help prepare students for study abroad, made public presentations on her experiences abroad and published numerous articles in the university’s newspaper, The Black and Magenta.

Maykuth has also received an Ohio Foreign Language Association Award for Excellence in French and has been inducted into the Muskingum University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, an academic honorary that requires its members to be in the top five percent of their class. A native of Columbus, Maykuth plans to pursue graduate studies.

Her faculty advisors at Muskingum were Associate Professor of French Dr. Jean Morris and Assistant Professor of Spanish Dr. Sandra Alzate. She was nominated for the scholarship by the faculty of the World Languages Department and the faculty advisor to Phi Sigma Iota’s Muskingum chapter, Professor of German Dr. F.J. Wehage.
