Speech team places second at OFA state varsity tournament
The Muskingum College speech team placed second in the Presidential Sweepstakes at the Ohio Forensics Association (OFA) State Varsity tournament recently held in Kent, Ohio.
Earned points from the previously held OFA State Novice Tournament were combined with the scores from the tournament at Kent, resulting in a second place overall combined sweepstakes score for the Muskingum team, which competes in the small school division.
Contributing to Muskingum’s strong showing at the tournament were Christina Sampson '07, who won sixth place in public relations extemporaneous speaking; Eugene Saunders '06, who won fifth place in informative speaking; and Kevin Triskett '07, who won second place in extemporaneous speaking, and first place in impromptu speaking.
To date, the Muskingum speech team has qualified in a total of 8 events for the National Forensics Association tournament April 13-18 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
