Muskingum College JUMPSTART program provides opportunities for current and prospective teachers
MAY 7, 2004 - Muskingum College is again offering its JUMPSTART program for intervention specialist graduate-level teacher preparation from June 28 through August 13.
The program is a radical departure from what most people assume is a much longer process for preparation of teachers. It allows individuals seeking initial licensure at the graduate level, or individuals who are already licensed but needing a temporary license in special education, to complete 15 semester hours of coursework toward their Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate license.
During the seven-week program, participants will complete the following courses: "Serving Individuals with Exceptionalities," "Phonics and Reading Instruction," "Instruction, Adaptation and Assessment in Language Arts and Social Studies," "Instruction, Adaptation and Assessment in Math and Science" and "Proactive Classroom Management and Support."
JUMPSTART participants will also complete fieldwork in a summer camp for students with mild to moderate disabilities.
