Muskingum College's Ryan Buckingham receives award for academic excellence
APRIL 29, 2004 - A Muskingum College student has received an Ohio Foreign Language Association Award for Excellence. Ryan Buckingham '04, was nominated for the award by Muskingum College Associate Professor of French Jean Morris.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement in the study of French. The nomination was based on the grades Buckingham received while studying French at the University of Toulon-Var last fall. From the university, he was given the designation of distinction which is reserved for only the very best students.
He also had a notation on his transcript that he had achieved near-native fluency in French. This is an unusual and outstanding achievement for an undergraduate French major.
Buckingham graduates from Muskingum this May and is considering his options for graduate school, which may be to attend the MBA program at the University of New Hampshire or to earn a master's degree in international affairs at Wright State University.
