Three Muskingum College students receive awards in Academy of American Poets University and College Poetry Prize competition

MAY 1, 2003 - Three Muskingum College students have received awards in the Academy of American Poets University and College Poetry Prize competition for 2003.

Sayuri Matsuura '04 received first prize for her poems Keepsakes, Highway 70, Going East and Songs of the Night.

Meg Thompson '05 received second place for her poems Sleep Sweat, The Atheist Goes to College and Women in the Morning.

Candice McMath '06 received third prize for her poems Tea Roses and What's So Great About Picket Fences?

The Academy of American Poets was founded in 1934 to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster an appreciation of contemporary poetry. The largest organization in the country dedicated to the art of poetry, the Academy sponsors a wide variety of programs, including the University and College Poetry Prize.
