International Student Programs Overview

Muskingum is a safe and friendly place, where everyone works together to help students succeed. People will quickly know your name, and give you all the individual attention that you deserve. In addition to the services provided by the University to the general student population of Muskingum, certain services and programs are available exclusively to international students.

Support Programs Available

  • Language assistance for students whose native language is not English
  • Permission to request extra time on tests for first-year ESP students whose first language is not English
  • Free tutoring available from most academic departments
  • Career Field Experience opportunities for 2nd year students
  • Internship opportunities for 3rd and 4th year students
  • International Programs Offices

Special Services for International Students


  • Airport greeting and transportation directly to campus upon arrival (from John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Columbus, Ohio) on designated dates
  • Transportation to and from Columbus International Airport on designated dates or transportation to or from the Greyhound bus station (Cambridge, Ohio) when leaving or arriving from semester breaks


  • Emergency lodging is provided free for early arrival and late departure before and after each academic semester if deemed necessary
  • Lodging in Campus Housing assured upon receipt of tuition deposit


  • Immigration advising and assistance with legal documents pertaining to immigration issues
  • Individual academic and career counseling
  • Personal counseling

Miscellaneous Activities & Services

  • Orientation program introducing new international students to Muskingum University and the surrounding community prior to the beginning of the academic term
  • Activities such as trips to shopping malls, baseball games, movies, art galleries, nearby attractions, etc.
  • Participation in Muskingum's exchange programs with universities overseas and in the United States
