Head Athletic Trainer

Muskingum University invites applications in the department of intercollegiate athletics for a full-time Head Athletic Trainer. Muskingum University is a Division III member of the NCAA, and a member of the ten school Ohio Athletic Conference. The successful candidate will provide oversight, and be a part of the professional staff providing Athletic Training Services to the student-athletes and teams of Muskingum University. Responsibilities are for the prevention, evaluation, clinical diagnosis, care, and rehabilitation of injuries to the participants in Muskingum University athletics.

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and Team Physician.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree in Athletic Training is preferred; NATA-BOC certified, hold a valid license to practice Athletic Training in the state of Ohio, and CPR certified.

Executive Director, PLUS Program and Disabilities Education Office

A pioneer in providing comprehensive academic support to university students with learning differences and disabilities, Muskingum University invites applications for the position of Executive Director of the university’s PLUS Program and Disabilities Education Office (DEO).  The goal of these offices is to assist students in obtaining a rich, meaningful, and purpose-driven collegiate experience, to assist them in achieving academic success, the earning of an academic degree, and to provide the foundation for professional and personal success beyond college.

Qualifications
Required: Extensive experience in designing and implementing superior support structures that provide meaningful and transformative experiences for students with learning challenges, and that prioritize both the earning of academic degrees and the creation of foundations for professional and personal success beyond college.  Master’s degree in Disability Studies, Special Education, Developmental Education, Psychology, or related area with preference given to doctorally-prepared candidates.  Minimum of five years of experience in a higher education setting working with students with disabilities, or in working with students with disabilities who are entering post-secondary education.  In-depth knowledge and understanding of current federal, state and local laws, and of policies, practices, and literature on the full range of disability services in higher education.  Evidence of knowledge of best practices, current trends, and industry standards in providing disability services in higher education.  Demonstrated record of administrative and budget management, as well as program development and event planning, plus day-to-day departmental operations and personnel management.  Ability to travel regularly to represent the university and promote its PLUS and DEO programs at conferences, and college fairs, and through visits to high schools.

Henry S. and Katherine W. Evans Director of the Roberta A. Smith University Library

Muskingum University invites applications for the position of Director of the Roberta A. Smith University Library, effective Fall semester of 2017. Opened in 2016, the Roberta A. Smith University Library is a state-of-the-art, technologically-rich, teaching, learning and research center that is also a congressionally-designated depository for U.S. government documents.  Muskingum University is a member of the OPAL (Ohio Private Academic Libraries) and OhioLINK consortia with borrowing privileges at over one hundred libraries throughout Ohio.

Qualifications: Strong understanding of – and vision for – innovative learning environments, both online and otherwise.  Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in information literacy, and in academic research.  Similarly strong understanding of current and emerging information technologies, and for collection development in a rapidly-expanding technological age.  Commitment to team development, and to open collaboration with all University units, and with consortia and other external partners.  Must be dedicated to a superior user experience, to engaged outreach, and to continuous professional development of self and of unit members.  MLS from an ALA-accredited program (A second Masters or terminal degree in a substantive field is preferred), plus five years of progressively-responsible leadership, vision, and supervisory experience in a library.  Proven ability to effectively manage budgets, projects and tasks.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and with common online library software and applications.  Excellent written, oral and online communication.  Position requires some in and out-of-state travel, plus some weekend hours.

Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement – Operation and Planned Giving

Muskingum University seeks an Associate Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Advancement that will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the University’s Development, Annual Programs, Alumni and Advancement Services units.  The AVP is the primary tactical, administrative and management officer for the Institutional Advancement unit.  This position serves as a team leader and supervisor for professional staff members for Alumni & Donor Relations. Advancement Services, Annual Programs & Special Initiatives. This proven leader must be a team player with the ability to motivate with an approachable and collaborative personal style.

Duties and responsibilities:

Serves as an Advancement Officer for the University, building both internal and external relationships with constituents and enhancing charitable revenue to support University operations.

  • Oversees development activities including alumni relations, annual giving, planned giving, as well as support for these functions and campaign management.
  • Supports and develops both short and long-term goals for the Office of Advancement that work to the goals of the University’s strategic plan.
  • Significant experience in the development of planned giving strategies.
  • Oversees directors’ staff, budget, programs and projects, interacting regularly with staff to ensure reporting of fundraising finances.
  • Establishes a culture that ensures resources are directed to areas of greatest return, contributing to a comprehensive plan that scales up fundraising and supports sustained growth as the University works toward a capital campaign.
  • Institutes policies and practices so that the entire staff can work productively in helping to achieve University goals.
  • Ensures unit plans are developed in a thorough and consistent framework, metrics are defined and tracked, monthly/annual plans are submitted, initiatives are monitored for completion, and budgets are effectively utilized.

Job qualifications/Requirements:

Student Life Coordinator

This is a 10-month, full time, live-in professional position which will manage on-campus residential facilities and will have a specific focus in residential life projects and staffing. Graduate Assistant - Athletic Trainer

Muskingum University invites applications in the department of intercollegiate athletics for a staff Athletic Trainer to assist the Athletic Training Staff in fulfilling their duties.

Serve as a Preceptor in the ATEP;

Assist the head trainer in prevention and care of injuries encountered during intercollegiate activities (traditional and non-traditional);

Assist in coverage of practices and games as assigned by the Head Trainer; Assist in pre-season physicals for all sports;

Assist with rehabilitation of intercollegiate injuries as assigned;

Abide by all policies and procedures set forth in the Department of Athletics.

Must have demonstrated experience in athletic training; Valid NATA-BOC Certification; Valid license to practice Athletic Training in the State of Ohio.

Vice President of Enrollment & Marketing

Muskingum University seeks an innovative strategist to lead enrollment initiatives and develop and implement its marketing and communication plan. As a member of the President’s Senior Leadership Team, this Vice President will serve as Chief Public Relations officer to the President and top administrative staff. The VP E& M, working with the leadership team and across the University community, will enhance Muskingum’s competitive position through enrollment growth and a cohesive marketing plan.   This proven leader must be highly collaborative and capable of bringing the institution together over issues of brand marketing, key messaging, and the path to building and sustaining enrollment health.     The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of current enrollment trends and marketplace realities; an understanding of financial aid and its relationship to enrollment; and the ability to lead the University’s effort to demonstrate its value proposition to prospective students and to all related audiences.

Duties and responsibilities:

Leads the development and execution of an integrated marketing, communication and recruitment plan that advances Muskingum’s strategic direction, ensures attainment of recruitment goals, differentiates Muskingum in a highly competitive marketplace and increases its regional and national exposure.

  • Oversees the operations of marketing, recruitment and financial aid for the undergraduate program.
  • Manages strategic initiatives and goals related to enrollment and marketing
  • Directs the enrollment and marketing research agendas and the sharing of dashboard information across the institution to facilitate data-based decision making and adjust strategy to meet changing market conditions
  • Manages budget and optimizes resources to achieve prioritized short and long term enrollment goals and advance the visibility of the institution and marketing
  • Provides effective leadership of effective, goal-oriented admission and marketing teams.
  • Provides marketing direction and consultation to the institution, including the academic divisions and administrative offices.
  • Manages communications, marketing and advertising activities and web communications, in coordination with the Graduate and Continuing Studies division when appropriate. Seeks out new ways to deliver messaging, such as mobile devices, video and social media.

Areas reporting to the person in this position include admissions, financial aid, institutional research, and communications and media relations.

Job qualifications/Requirements:

Highly competitive candidates will have a master’s degree or higher in a related field and 7-10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the areas of enrollment management and marketing/communications.
