Library Circulation Supervisor – Muskingum University

Muskingum University’s exciting new, state-of-the-art, Roberta A. Smith Library is seeking a full-time Library Circulation Supervisor. This position is responsible for all circulation activities and provides the circulation department of the Muskingum University Library leadership within a collaborative-oriented environment. This position is responsible for approximately 30 student workers who carry out the tasks of circulation and other services.

  • Participate as administrator and contributing team member of the Muskingum University Library staff.
  • Manage Muskingum University Library Circulation Department.
  • Manage student employees in the library.
  • Shares responsibility with Library Director and Web Resources Librarian for distribution of information.
  • Participate in OPAL and OhioLINK meetings, committees, training sessions and conferences.
  • Remain current with library circulation trends and issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse population of faculty, students, staff and community members.
  • Proficiency using MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Ability to compile and organize statistical information.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Library circulation experience a plus.

Reference-Web Resources Librarian – Muskingum University

Muskingum University’s exciting new, state-of-the-art, Roberta A. Smith Library seeks a motivated, energetic, service-oriented librarian committed to providing excellent library services in a customer-centered environment. Must be familiar with electronic and networked information, and the integration of technology with library services, as well as with traditional library resources. Expected to work in a highly-digital environment, the position requires a collegial team-player who will assist in further developing a user-centered program that actively promotes research support, integrates information literacy instruction, and provides reference services to students and faculty. The Reference / Web Resources Librarian is also responsible for managing the library’s web-pages, and serves as the campus web consultant assisting academic departments in maintaining their web-pages. The position participates, additionally, in the evening and weekend reference services rotation, and in library-related classroom teaching.  This position reports to the Director of the Library

Responsibilities: Implement the delivery of an established library-user education program to students at the undergraduate and graduate level, and to faculty. Provide reference services and general library instruction to library patrons using the library’s catalog, and shared research databases and print resources. Share in library-related classroom teaching responsibilities, and participate in evening and weekend rotation of reference services. Assist academic departments with their web pages, and manage and further develop the library’s website.

Specific Duties:

Provide basic reference services, including evening and weekend rotation.

  • Perform general reference subject research and reader guidance services.
  • Serve as campus web consultant for academic departments and other units of the university.
  • Manage the Library’s website using Contribute, Dreamweaver, image editing programs and other web development tools.
  • Participate in the rotation of the library’s classroom teaching of a three credit hour, semester long, library research methods course.
  • Conduct library orientation and instruction sessions.
  • Participate in collection development.
  • Prepare bibliographies and book lists.
  • Write, review and revise manuals of policies and procedures.
  • Collect and analyze data and prepare reports on library activities.
  • Participate in state and national library consortia and organizations.

Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree required. Candidates who will complete the MLS or MLIS by summer 2016 will be considered. Second graduate degree preferred. A commitment to excellence, experience with Web-based subscription databases, plus web development expertise and familiarity with an array of current software applications are necessary. Familiarity with Contribute, Dreamweaver, image editing programs and other web development tools a plus. Experience using the OhioLINK / III system and Innovative Interfaces is desirable, along with an understanding and appreciation of the liberal arts experience.

Salary Range: Commensurate with credentials and experience for this 12-month administrative position.

Graduate Assistant in Softball – Muskingum University

Muskingum University invites applications for a one-year with a one-year renewable contract (two years preferred) as a graduate assistant coach in Softball. The position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Athletics and the Head Softball Coach. Duties include assisting with all phases of a national caliber NCAA Division III softball program. The graduate assistant coach for softball also serves as a fall soccer game manager, plus any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Successful candidate must have intercollegiate softball experience.

This is a ten month appointment which begins August 1, 2016. Position includes graduate school tuition remission for Muskingum University, monthly stipend, room and board. Candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree and qualify for admission into Muskingum University's graduate school. Candidates should posses a strong commitment to motivate, teach, counsel and recruit student-athletes within the guidelines of the NCAA and the Ohio Athletic Conference.

The position is under the supervisor of the Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach. Duties include to serve as an assistant football coach to aid the head coach in all designated areas. Also serves as the winter sport game manager to assist the Director of Athletics and various head coaches in home game administrative responsibilities. This is a ten-month appointment.
