Head Track & Field Coach

Muskingum University invites applications in the department of intercollegiate athletics for a full-time Head Men's &women's Track & Field coach. Muskingum University is a Division III member of the NCAA and a member of the ten school Ohio Athletic Conference. The successful candidate is responsible for the leadership and administration of the men's and women's track & field program. Responsibilities will include the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, scheduling, purchasing of equipment, inventories, managing existing equipment, making all travel and lodging arrangements, monitoring and nurturing the student-athlete's academic and personal progress, and organization of the total track and field program.

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, plus the director of Track & Field Operations, and will include a secondary assignment dependent upon the successful candidate's credentials and expertise. Possible assignments would be athletic administration, teaching within the Health and Physical Education Department, game management, etc.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree is preferred in Health, Physical Education, or a related field. NCAA Division III coaching and recruiting experience required.

Graduate Assistant - Track & Field

Muskingum University invites applications for a one-year with a one-year renewable contract as a graduate assistant coach in Track & Field. The position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Athletics and the Head Coach in Track & Field. Duties include assisting with all phases of the track program, plus any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Successful candidate must have intercollegiate track and field experience.

This is a ten-month appointment which begins August 1, 2017. Position includes graduate school tuition remission for Muskingum University, monthly stipend, room and board. Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree and qualify for admission into Muskingum University's graduate school.

Candidates should possess a strong commitment to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit student-athletes within the guidelines of the NCAA and the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Head Athletic Trainer

Muskingum University invites applications in the department of intercollegiate athletics for a full-time Head Athletic Trainer. Muskingum University is a Division III member of the NCAA, and a member of the ten school Ohio Athletic Conference. The successful candidate will provide oversight, and be a part of the professional staff providing Athletic Training Services to the student-athletes and teams of Muskingum University. Responsibilities are for the prevention, evaluation, clinical diagnosis, care, and rehabilitation of injuries to the participants in Muskingum University athletics.

This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and Team Physician.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree in Athletic Training is preferred; NATA-BOC certified, hold a valid license to practice Athletic Training in the state of Ohio, and CPR certified.

Executive Director, PLUS Program and Disabilities Education Office

Executive Director, PLUS Program and Disabilities Education Office

With the launch of its innovative PLUS program in 1983, Muskingum University became a pioneer in offering comprehensive academic support services to university students with learning differences and mild-to-moderate disabilities.

Muskingum has now begun a nationwide search to identify the next Executive Director of our PLUS Program and Disabilities Education Office (DEO). For this position, the University seeks a dynamic and accomplished leader with a clear vision of innovative and inclusive learning environments and of effectively providing services in the context of a forward-looking, 21st-century liberal arts setting.

Reporting directly to the Provost, Muskingum anticipates that the new Executive Director of the PLUS program and the DEO will:

  • Bring extensive experience in designing and implementing high-quality support structures that provide meaningful and transformative experiences for students with learning challenges, and that prioritize both the earning of academic degrees and the creation of foundations for professional and personal success beyond college.
  • Maintain a nationally-recognized presence, participate actively in professional organizations, and be prepared to represent and promote the University and these programs actively across the region and beyond.
  • Engage in a robust professional development routine that enables him/her to stay current with best practices, and with literature and legislation in the field.

At Muskingum University, the Executive Director will join a campus community where PLUS and DEO are already well integrated into our academic, intellectual, social and experiential life.

The new Executive Director will provide supportive leadership to a full staff of PLUS/DEO administrators and learning consultants while working collaboratively with various offices across campus, including Admission.

The Executive Director of PLUS and DEO will hold academic rank within the University and have the opportunity to teach courses appropriate to his/her experience.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Disability Studies, Special Education, Developmental Education, Psychology, or related area strongly preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with a master’s degree in these areas and significant experience in the field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a higher education setting working with students with disabilities, or in working with students with disabilities who are entering post-secondary education.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of current federal, state and local laws, and of policies, practices, and literature on the full range of disability services in higher education.
  • Evidence of knowledge of best practices, current trends, and industry standards in providing disability services in higher education.
  • Demonstrated record of administrative and budget management, as well as program development and event planning, plus day-to-day departmental operations and personnel management.
  • Ability to travel regularly to represent the University and promote its PLUS and DEO programs at professional conferences, etc.
  • Ability to coordinate and support recruitment into the PLUS program through multiple venues.
  • Appointment to this position is conditional upon the successful completion of a background check through the University’s background check agency.

Muskingum University invites applications for the position of Director of the Roberta A. Smith University Library, effective Fall semester of 2017. Opened in 2016, the Roberta A. Smith University Library is a state-of-the-art, technologically-rich, teaching, learning and research center that is also a congressionally-designated depository for U.S. government documents.  Muskingum University is a member of the OPAL (Ohio Private Academic Libraries) and OhioLINK consortia with borrowing privileges at over one hundred libraries throughout Ohio.

Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement – Operation and Planned Giving

Muskingum University seeks an Associate Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Advancement that will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the University’s Development, Annual Programs, Alumni and Advancement Services units.  The AVP is the primary tactical, administrative and management officer for the Institutional Advancement unit.  This position serves as a team leader and supervisor for professional staff members for Alumni & Donor Relations. Advancement Services, Annual Programs & Special Initiatives. This proven leader must be a team player with the ability to motivate with an approachable and collaborative personal style.

Duties and responsibilities:

Serves as an Advancement Officer for the University, building both internal and external relationships with constituents and enhancing charitable revenue to support University operations.

  • Oversees development activities including alumni relations, annual giving, planned giving, as well as support for these functions and campaign management.
  • Supports and develops both short and long-term goals for the Office of Advancement that work to the goals of the University’s strategic plan.
  • Significant experience in the development of planned giving strategies.
  • Oversees directors’ staff, budget, programs and projects, interacting regularly with staff to ensure reporting of fundraising finances.
  • Establishes a culture that ensures resources are directed to areas of greatest return, contributing to a comprehensive plan that scales up fundraising and supports sustained growth as the University works toward a capital campaign.
  • Institutes policies and practices so that the entire staff can work productively in helping to achieve University goals.
  • Ensures unit plans are developed in a thorough and consistent framework, metrics are defined and tracked, monthly/annual plans are submitted, initiatives are monitored for completion, and budgets are effectively utilized.
