Faculty member earns journalism award
Muskingum College Assistant Professor of Journalism Dr. Vivian Wagner has received first place honors in a competition held by the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists.
Dr. Wagner received the award in the category of personality profiles for trade publications. Her article, A Voice for Migrant Women, profiled Monica Ramirez, a graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, and appeared in the Ohio State Alumni Magazine in November, 2004.
Ramirez is one of the few attorneys in the country who specializes in gender discrimination against farm women. She works with the Migrant Farmworker Justice Project of Florida Legal Services.
Dr. Wagner joined the Muskingum faculty in 2003. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Irvine, her master’s degree from The Ohio State University and her doctoral degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. In addition to her teaching duties, she is advisor to the college’s campus newspaper, The Black and Magenta.
