Richard Daquila named to Ohio Magazine Excellence in Education Award
DECEMBER 12, 2003 - Muskingum College Associate Professor of Mathematics Dr. Richard Daquila has been included in Ohio Magazine's Excellence in Education Awards for 2003. The award appears in the magazine's December issue, just released.
Dr. Daquila was nominated by the college's Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. George Sims, who said, "We are very pleased and proud that Dr. Daquila has been recognized by Ohio Magazine for this award. Since joining the faculty at Muskingum, he has been actively involved in issues affecting his students, including state teaching licensure requirements, as well as actively pursuing new knowledge in his field of study."
Muskingum College President Anne C. Steele said, "Dr. Daquila brings to his work the highest level of commitment to excellence and innovation, as well as an attitude and energy from which his students, his colleagues and the entire Muskingum College community reap many benefits."
A member of the Muskingum College faculty since 1995, Dr. Daquila received his bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and his master's degree and doctorate from The Ohio State University.
In 2003, he received Muskingum College's William Oxley Thompson Award for Excellence in Teaching. In both 2000 and 2002, he was inducted into Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
In addition to his work in the classroom, Dr. Daquila is a committed researcher. He has published articles in the journal Complex Variables Theory and Application and has had several problem solutions accepted in The College Mathematics Journal and Mathematics magazine.
