Student receives scholarship award from Ohio Watercolor Society
AUGUST 6, 2003 - Muskingum College student Kelly Haga '04 is the recipient of a college scholarship award given by the Ohio Watercolor Society (OWS). She will be awarded the scholarship during OWS's Annual Juried Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibition, Watercolor Ohio 2003, to be held at the Zanesville Art Center from September 20 through October 31.
Haga will be presented with the scholarship award at an awards ceremony at the opening of the exhibition on September 20 at the Zanesville Art Center. Also, one of her acrylic works, Faith, will appear in the exhibition.
Muskingum College Associate Professor of Art Dr. Yan Sun nominated Haga for the award, citing her artistic talent, organizational skills, analytical thinking and positive attitude.
According to Dr. Sun, "Kelly Haga is very talented and she is experimental to a very high degree."
For 14 years, OWS has presented this award to a college student who works in watermedia, which is the application and use of color in combination with water.
Students are selected by the faculty of their college art departement. This award goes to an undergraduate art major who shows a high level of ability in the use of watermedia and who is interested in art as a vocation. The winner receives cash and art supplies, and the art department of the college receives funds for watercolor instruction, as well.
