Members of student media receive recognition in Society for Collegiate Journalists competition

MAY 12, 2003 - Muskingum College students who staff the campus newspaper, television station, radio station and yearbook received numerous awards in the recent Society for Collegiate Journalists Competition for the 2002-2003 academic year.

Writers for the college newspaper, The Black and Magenta, received the following awards:

Meg Thompson '04 received third place in editorials for You Must Be Crazy. . .

Aaron Spragg '04 received third place for excellence in sports news and an honorable mention in sports features.

Writers for the college radio station, WMCO-FM, received the following awards:

Senior Lisa Marshall '04 and Spragg received first place in broadcast features for Chirstmas Parade.

Nikki Reid '04 received second place in broadcast features for Voting.

The college yearbook, Muscoljuan, received the following awards:

Fifth place for the Terry Vander Heyden Award for Coverage of the Year.
Fourth place for Concept of the Book.
Third place for Reporting in Words.
Honorable mention for Display: Layout, Design and Graphics.
