Part-Time Track & Field Assistant

Muskingum University is now accepting applications in the department of intercollegiate athletics for a part-time position as Assistant Track & Field Coach for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Responsibilities: As the Assistant Track & Field Coach, the successful candidate is responsible for:

  • Help with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
  • Help administer practice sessions
  • Home meet management / administration
  • Travel to all away meets with the team
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach


  • Undergraduate degree is preferred

Reference / Web Resources Librarian

Muskingum University’s exciting new, state-of-the-art, Roberta A. Smith Library seeks a motivated, energetic, service-oriented librarian committed to providing excellent library services in a customer-centered environment. Must be familiar with electronic and networked information, and the integration of technology with library services, as well as with traditional library resources. Expected to work in a highly-digital environment, the position requires a collegial team-player who will assist in further developing a user-centered program that actively promotes research support, integrates information literacy instruction, and provides reference services to students and faculty. The Reference / Web Resources Librarian is also responsible for managing the library’s web-pages, and serves as the campus web consultant assisting academic departments in maintaining their web-pages. The position participates, additionally, in the evening and weekend reference services rotation, and in library-related classroom teaching.  This position reports to the Director of the Library

Responsibilities: Implement the delivery of an established library-user education program to students at the undergraduate and graduate level, and to faculty. Provide reference services and general library instruction to library patrons using the library’s catalog, and shared research databases and print resources. Share in library-related classroom teaching responsibilities, and participate in evening and weekend rotation of reference services. Assist academic departments with their webpages, and manage and further develop the library’s website.

Specific Duties:

  • Provide basic reference services, including evening and weekend rotation.
  • Perform general reference subject research and reader guidance services.
  • Serve as campus web consultant for academic departments and other units of the university.
  • Manage the Library’s website using Contribute, Dreamweaver, image editing programs and other web development tools.
  • Participate in the rotation of the library’s classroom teaching of a three credit hour, semester long, library research methods course.
  • Conduct library orientation and instruction sessions.
  • Participate in collection development.
  • Prepare bibliographies and booklists.
  • Write, review and revise manuals of policies and procedures.
  • Collect and analyze data and prepare reports on library activities.
  • Participate in state and national library consortia and organizations.

Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree required. Candidates who will complete the MLS or MLIS by summer 2016 will be considered. Second graduate degree preferred. A commitment to excellence, experience with Web-based subscription databases, plus web development expertise and familiarity with an array of current software applications are necessary. Familiarity with Contribute, Dreamweaver, image editing programs and other web development tools a plus. Experience using the OhioLINK / III system and Innovative Interfaces is desirable, along with an understanding and appreciation of the liberal arts experience.

Salary Range: Commensurate with credentials and experience for this 12-month administrative position.
