Help When You Need It
There are times when we all feel overwhelmed or confused. The
Muskingum College Counseling Center is here to help you make some
of those difficult decisions.
Located in room 213 of the Student-Faculty Center, counselors
are available to listen to your concerns and help you explore
and understand your thoughts and feelings. When you are in the
midst of a problem, it is often difficult to see all of your options.
Counseling can help you find your options you may not have thought
of on your own. The goal of counseling is to help you understand
yourself better and become the most effective person you can be.
All sessions are free and confidential.
Common personal problems college students face include adjusting
to college life, family conflicts, lack of motivation, relationship
problems, feelings of depression, stress, sexual orientation,
dating, or time management.
The
OnlineScreening for Depression, Alcohol, and Eating Disorders is
made available to all Muskingum College students and is taken
anonymously. This screening is provided so that you may find
out - in a few minutes - whether or not professional consultation
might be helpful to you.
Vocational decision making is also a frequent area of concern.
The question of "What do I want to be?" is a difficult
one to answer. Interest testing is available to help you make
a decision on selecting a major.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is the foundation of the counseling relationship.
You can trust that what you discuss with the counselor will be
kept in strict confidence. The Counseling Center serves all Muskingum
students and will consult with faculty and staff. Remember, it
is the mark of a wise individual to seek the assistance of others.
