Minner's quest for an NCAA Championship ends
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, March 7, 2008 - Muskingum College senior Dave Minner's quest for an NCAA Championship ended Friday at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. [NCAA Championships site]
Minner, an All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree and the 157-pound OAC champion, dropped his first bout against top-seed Aaron Wernimont of Wartburg College. Minner stumbled in a 14-2 major decision setback against Wernimont. Following the loss, Minner rumbled with eighth-seed John Niedrich of York College. Minner suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 decision against Niedrich to end his NCAA run.
Minner ends his outstanding season with a 31-13 record. Additionally, he helped lead Muskingum to a six-match winning streak this season, which was the Muskies longest winning streak since 1998-99.
