Hoyt named OAC Player of the Year as Muskies garner numerous All-OAC honors
NEW CONCORD, Ohio, May 7, 2005 -
Following its eighth straight Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship, the Muskingum College softball team was honored by having junior All-American pitcher Erica Hoyt named the Gayle Lauth OAC Player of the Year in addition to having nine players named All-Ohio Athletic Conference.
Hoyt recorded a 15-2 mark with a 1.62 ERA in 17 starts against conference opponents. Additionally, Hoyt had a league-high 90 strikeouts in 86.2 innings of work and held opposing batters to a .203 average. This marked the second straight year that Hoyt has garnered Player of the Year honors.
Hoyt, senior All-American designated player Nicole Blubaugh, sophomore first baseman Amy Iammarino, sophomore second baseman Kim Tackett, junior outfielder Juli Johnston and freshman cathcer Kari Hoying were named first team All-OAC, while sophomore shortstop Allie Scheetz, sophomore third baseman Brittany Hess and junior outfielder Lindsay Bramhall were all named second team All-OAC.
Blubaugh batted .456 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs, Iammarino batted .466 with 27 hits and 16 RBIs, Tackett batted .396 with 18 RBIs, Johnston batted .444 with 15 RBIs and three home runs and Hoying batted .360 with five home runs and 22 RBIs. Scheetz batted .276 with five doubles, Hess batted .342 with five doubles and two home runs, while Bramhall batted .345 with four doubles.
