Muskies jump to third in NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, April 26, 2006 - The Muskingum College softball team was ranked third in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll. The poll is voted on by NCAA Division III head coaches representing each region. [NFCA Top 25 Poll]
The Muskies off to a 31-3 start, lead the nation in doubles per game (2.53) and rank third in winning percentage (.912), third in fielding percentage (.974), fourth in batting average (.380) and eighth in slugging percentage (.539).
Muskingum narrowly trails second place Ithaca College by two points and first place and defending national champion Saint Thomas (Minn.) by 19 points.
The Muskies fresh off its ninth straight Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title have outscored its opponents 255-68 and have collected 215 more hits than its opposition.
Muskingum, who has been ranked in the top 25 every week since 1999, was slotted fifth in the last NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll.
