NEW CONCORD, OHIO, October 15, 2008 - The Muskingum College women's soccer team battled Marietta College to a tie in double overtime on Wednesday afternoon, 0-0. [boxscore]
In the game, Muskie senior goal keeper Princess Tarrance garnered six saves as she played the entire 110 minutes.
As a team, Marietta had a total of 24 shots, while the Muskies had 21 shots on the day. After the first period however, Muskingum outshot the Pioneers by a 16-12 margin. Leading the way in shots for the Muskies was freshman Alyssa Cushman with seven, while freshman Nicole Langston added five more. Also contributing strongly in the shot column was sophomore Alissa Anderson with four.
Both teams had solid opportunities to score, but could not find the back of the net. Muskingum's Cushman scored what appeared to be the game-winning tally in the 86th minute off of a bobbled ball by the Pioneer keeper. However, the referee waved off the goal stating the keeper had possession of the ball.
The Muskies (5-6-2, 0-3-1) hit the pitch next when they host Baldwin-Wallace College for Muskingum's Homecoming on Saturday, October 18. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
