NEW CONCORD, OHIO, September 19, 2011 - The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that Muskingum senior linebacker Alex Thomas was named OAC Defensive Player of the Week and that Muskingum sophomore running back Alvin Taylor was named OAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Thomas helped lead the Muskingum defense with a game-high 15 tackles with one interception for 47 yards and a half a sack. The Muskie defense limited Marietta to just 20 yards rushing and 238 yards of total offense en route to a 34-14 Shriners Game win. Thomas ranks third in the OAC averaging 12 tackles per game.

Taylor returned 36-yard punt for a touchdown early in the third quarter. The touchdown was the first of Taylor's collegiate career and first Muskingum punt return for a touchdown since 2003.
