Whiteman named First Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All District IV
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 11, 2010 - For the third straight year, Muskingum University senior catcher Brock Whiteman has been named First Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV. With First Team honors, Whiteman now advances to the ESPN the Magazine All-American ballot.
Whiteman, a special education major, carries a 3.7 grade-point-average. He is Muskingum's all-time career hits leader with 217 and ranks second in RBIs (166), doubles (47) and at-bats (560). Whiteman leads the team this season with 10 home runs, 36 RBIs, 41 runs scored and carries a team-best .686 slugging percentage to go along with his .380 batting average.
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within their respective district. College Division District IV includes every NCAA II, III and NAIA institution in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. In order to be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, hold a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key reserve.
