Whiteman, VanMeter named ABCA All-Region
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 20, 2009 - The Muskingum College baseball team was honored by the American Baseball Coaches Association with the announcement that junior All-American catcher Brock Whiteman and junior pitcher Nathan VanMeter have been named Second Team ABCA All-Mideast Region.
Whiteman led the Muskies in batting average (.372), slugging percentage (.650), on-base percentage (.467), hits (51), RBIs (42), doubles (10) and home runs (8). He also paced the Muskies with 17 multiple hit games and 12 multiple RBI games. Whiteman was the OAC Player of the Year in 2008 and is a three-time all-league selection.
VanMeter posted a team-best 1.30 ERA with 62 strikeouts. He went 4-3 with four complete games and two shutouts. VanMeter held opposing hitters to a .168 batting average and allowed only six extra base hits in 55.1 innings of work.
