Whiteman named ESPN the Magazine First Team All-District

NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 9, 2008 - Muskingum College sophomore catcher Brock Whiteman (New Concord/John Glenn) was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV College Division Baseball First Team.

Whiteman, a special education major, carries a 3.64 grade-point-average. He ranks 17th in NCAA Division III in doubles, 21st in total bases, 32nd in slugging percentage and 36th in batting average. Whiteman led the Muskies this season in batting average (.450), hits (67), doubles (19), triples (2), home runs (9), RBI’s (51) and total bases (117).

With First Team honors, Whiteman now advances to the ESPN the Magazine All-American ballot.

To qualify for the teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. College Division District IV includes every NCAA II, III and NAIA institution in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
