Academic Scholarship Program
Our on-campus scholarship program is for high school seniors who have applied for regular undergraduate admission and who qualify for academic scholarships based on their academic performance in high school. On three consecutive Saturdays each February, students come to campus to take a scholarship exam and interview with faculty members to try to earn enhancement money to add to their initial awards. Participation in this program is an important part of the overall scholarship process and is required for a student to be considered for the John Glenn Scholarship, our full-tuition academic scholarship.
Other parts of this program include morning panel discussions for parents, informational sessions presented by faculty and students from each academic division, a catered lunch for all, coffee and dessert in the afternoon, informational sessions on Financial Aid and Career Services at Muskingum, and campus tours from 1:00-3:00 p.m. In addition to scholarship interviews, Art and Music students may audition or show portfolios during the afternoon as well, and students interested in Journalism, Radio/TV, Forensics (speech), and Theatre are also encouraged to attend group meetings with faculty to learn more about these special scholarship opportunities.

How to Participate
Students interested in Muskingum's Scholarship Program should register for the Program at least one week prior to the selected test date by completing the Online Registration or calling 1-800-752-6082. Additional information will be mailed confirming registration.
Eligibility
Participants must apply for admission to Muskingum College prior to the test date. Any applicant who qualifies for an academic scholarship earns the right to participate in this program. In general, students should have at least a 3.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale in academic subjects and a composite ACT of 23 or higher (SAT math/verbal combined score of 1,050 or higher) to be considered.
Selection Criteria
Participation in the scholarship program is an important consideration for all scholarships and is required for the John Glenn Scholarship. Selection is based on:
- Secondary school record including courses, grades and class rank.
- Results of the ACT or SAT test.
- Performance on the written examination of the scholarship program.
- A personal interview on the day of the competition.
A student's base scholarship level is determined by the high school record and ACT/SAT scores and this program gives students the opportunity to add to that base. Performance in the scholarship competition can only increase--and never decrease--the amount of a scholarship award.
Science & Performance Scholarships
Outstanding students pursuing a degree in the natural or physical sciences may apply and interview for a Science Scholarship of $1,000-2,000 per year. Students demonstrating outstanding aptitude in art, music, theatre, broadcasting, journalism, or speech may apply for performance scholarships in those areas. Annual performance awards typically range from $500-2,000 in music and from $500-1,500 in the other areas. Selection is made by the respective departments, and performance awards require an audition, interview, or portfolio review with faculty. (More information and downloadable forms.)
Notification
Results from the Scholarship Program will be announced by early March, with all participants being notified of their final scholarship amounts.
