The Department of Music offers a quality music program as part of the liberal arts mission of Muskingum University. It does so by developing student-musicians in a community where individual fulfillment is encouraged and the intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical well- being of the student is fostered through the ensembles, applied study and music courses offered.

The mission of the music program is directly linked to the mission of the university in that it promotes both individual fulfillment and development of the whole person—intellectual, spiritual, social and physical aspects.
