The Molecular Biology Program is committed to excellence in the education of students in ways that help them understand and appreciate the chemical nature of biological processes.  This is accomplished by providing them with instruction about biological processes and interactions at the gene and molecular (chemical) level through an integration of theory, applications, hands-on experience in fundamental molecular techniques, as well as on ethical, social, political and economic issues associated with the field, and through developing their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. 

The Molecular Biology Program supports the University’s Mission by developing the intellectual skills of the students which include problem-solving and critical-thinking, as well as by fostering the students’ ethical and social growth.  These endeavors will result in vocationally productive and socially responsible citizens.
