Students majoring in International Affairs should be able to understand and analyze global conflict and cooperation through a broad interdisciplinary program. By taking courses for the major, students will examine the historical development of regions, nations, peoples and ideologies; learn about international trade, finance, and international economic development; hone language skills; and gain awareness of international institutions and mechanisms which facilitate or hinder global cooperation. This program of study is intended to instill an awareness of different cultures and contemporary global concerns and thereby develop in students increased ethical sensitivity and social responsibility.
