Major Requirements

Each student majoring in Environmental Science will complete (1) The Core Courses; (2) the Environmental Applications; (3) a minimum of 8 hours of Group I electives; and (4) select a track of specialization within the major and complete courses within that track as well as the appropriate electives to compliment that track as follows:

  • Biology: Environmental Science Major (80 hours) which includes 18 hours from Biology Track courses + 12 hours from Group II Electives
  • Chemistry: Environmental Science Major (82 hours) which includes 21 hours from Chemistry Track courses + 12 hours from Group II Electives
  • Geoscience: Environmental Science Major (80 hours) which includes 19 hours from Geoscience Track courses + 12 hours from Group II Electives
  • Social Science: Environmental Science Major (78 hours) which includes 18 hours from Social Science Track + 11 hours from Group III Electives

Core Courses (35-36 hours)

  • Biology 106 (Environmental Science) or 111, 112, 107 (twice)
  • Chemistry 111, 112, 235
  • Geology 101 or 110, 104
  • Math 140 or Economics 325 or Psychology 232

Environmental Applications (6 hours)

  • Any one course from biology or chemistry or geoscience track which does not already fulfill a major requirement
