Mission Statement

The mission of the Biology Department at Muskingum University is to advance the educational, professional, & personal development of our students.  Our goals for life science majors are to provide a broad and rigorous education in the biological sciences, help students identify and prepare for fulfilling professional careers, advance critical thinking and problem solving skills, and ensure an in-depth understanding of science as a process of human inquiry.

The Biology Department’s mission statement indicates a focus on developing "whole persons" from an intellectual standpoint. In addition, we specifically mention our intention to develop critical thinking skills which tie directly into the institutional mission statement.
