| Nikhil Deogun, Class of 1991
Nikhil (Nik) Deogun is senior vice president and editor-in-chief, Business News, at CNBC, where he is responsible for day-to-day business news coverage and long-term strategy. He came to CNBC from The Wall Street Journal, where he was deputy managing editor. He oversaw all financial coverage for the news organization and directed the Journal's international network of bureaus and correspondents. Nik began his career with the Journal in 1994 as a reporter and served in positions of increasing responsibility over the next 15 years.
Nik discovered his passion for journalism at Muskingum, where he majored in English and economics and served as co-editor of the Black and Magenta. "My real inspiration for journalism happened while I was at Muskingum. My professors taught me to report aggressively and write clearly," recalls Nik. He earned his master's degree from the University of Missouri's renowned School of Journalism.
Nik is married to Allison Kimmich '91, who is the executive director of the National Women's Studies Association (and was his co-editor at the Black and Magenta.) They reside in New Jersey with their two children, Maya and Sameer.
