Department

Welcome to the Department of Physics & Engineering at Muskingum University.

The department offers majors in physics, physics education and engineering science and supports the binary and pre-engineering programs.  The department strives to employ students as tutors and assistants, offer on-site research and design experiences for students, expose students to the “real world” through guest speakers and field trips, assist students with securing summer research positions and internships, and assist students with their educational and career goals.

Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the Engineering Science, Physics, and Physics Education programs offered by the Department of Physics & Engineering at Muskingum University will
1.     Engage in life-long learning.
2.     Be effective communicators.
3.     Be effective team members and leaders.
4.     Apply their education to diverse fields.
5.     Be successful professionals.
6.     Be socially engaged citizens.

Tutoring Schedule

Free Tutoring in Physics & Engineering is offered Monday through Friday in BSC 134 from 3:30 - 5.

Derek Anderson ('13)

10/26/11:
Derek Anderson ('13) presented "X Ray Fluorescence:  Determining Compositions of Unknown Materials" at the Annual Fall Research and Internship Forum.  Derek is in a continuing internship with AMG Vanadium.

Andrea Larkin ('13)

10/26/11:
Andrea Larkin ('13) presented "Tooling Design Engineer" at the Annual Fall Research and Internship Forum. Andrea completed an internship last summer with the Engineering Department at Allied Machine and Engineering Corporation.

Brandon Leyda ('14) and Brian Sayre ('14)

10/26/11:
Brandon Leyda ('14 - on left) and Brian Sayre ('14 - on right) presented "Soil Electrical Resistivity Measurements in Undisturbed and Surface Stripped Soils" at the Annual Fall Research and Internship Forum. Brandon and Brian completed a Muskie Summer Fellows experience last summer with Dr. Sandra Soto-Caban.
