Meet the Coaches

Joe Montgomery
Head Coach

Joe Montgomery is entering his sixth year as head wrestling coach at Muskingum University.

Over the past four seasons, Montgomery has guided 10 wrestlers to top four finishes in the in the rugged Ohio Athletic Conference, including coaching Dave Minner to the 157-pound OAC championship and a berth to the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships.

Furthermore, Montgomery guided the 2007-08 Fighting Muskies to a six-match winning streak which was the programs longest winning streak since the 1998-99 campaign.

Montgomery arrived in New Concord from Emory & Henry College where he has served as an assistant football coach since 2006. He attended Mount Union College where he competed in wrestling and football. He was a member of the 2003 Purple Raider wrestling squad that finished fourth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, and was a four-year member of the Mount Union football team that won four OAC Championships and two National Championships (2002, 2006).

Montgomery graduated from Mount Union with a B.A. in business management in 2006.
