McKenzie honored as OAC Volleyball Player of the Week
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, September 22 -
The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that Muskingum College senior Jessica McKenzie has been named OAC Volleyball Player of the Week.
McKenzie helped lead the Muskies to a 4-1 record last week which included three wins at the Carnegie Mellon University Crossover Invitational. The 5-foot-11 middle hitter smashed 60 kills en route to an outstanding .444 hitting percentage. She also added a team-high 30 blocks at the net.
On the season, McKenzie leads the Black & Magenta with 173 kills, a .448 hitting percentage and 146 total blocks. The Muskies are currently 16-2 overall, which is their best start since 1999 when they opened the year 17-1 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship Final Four.
Muskingum returns to the court next against Heidelberg College in the friendly confines of the Muskingum Recreation Center Saturday, October 4. The match will be the Muskies' OAC opener and is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
