Burns accounted for 244 of Muskingum's 294 yards of offense in the Muskies' win at Marietta College. He ended the game going 10-of-18 for 140 yards and one score. He also added 104 yards rushing on 26 carries with two touchdowns. Burns now stands 228 passing yards shy of the all-time Muskingum record of 4,114 passing yards held by Jeff Morris. He also is 494 total offensive yards away from the Muskingum all-time record of 5,315 offensive yards held by Morris. This is the third time in Burns' career he has been recognized as the OAC Football Offensive Player of the Week.

McArthur blocked a Marietta punt in the second quarter that the Muskies recovered for a touchdown. The block marked the second straight game that special teams have blocked a punt. McArthur ended the game with three tackles, one pass break-up and one block.

Burns and McArthur's play helped lead Muskingum to its second straight Shrine Game win against the rival Pioneers and propelled the Muskies to their first 2-0 overall and 1-0 start in the league since the 2003 campaign. Furthermore, the victory was the first for Muskingum at Marietta since 1990 and extended the Muskies’ OAC road winning streak to three games dating back to last season.
