Whiteman named First Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 7, 2009 - For the second straight year, Muskingum College junior catcher Brock Whiteman has been named First Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV. With First Team honors, Whiteman now advances to the ESPN the Magazine All-American ballot.
Whiteman, a special education major, carries a 3.67 grade-point-average. He led the Muskies this season in batting average (.372), slugging percentage (.650), on-base percentage (.467), hits, 51), RBIs, 42), doubles (10) and home runs (8). Whiteman also paced the Muskies with 17 multiple hit games and 12 multiple RBI games.
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within their respective district. College Division District IV includes every NCAA II, III and NAIA institution in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. In order to be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, hold a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key reserve.
