EXPERIENCE:

COLLEGE MINISTER, MUSKINGUM COLLEGE, New Concord, Ohio, 1985- 2007. Served a Presbyterian-related liberal arts college with a student body of 1600 in the following capacities:

        MINISTER TO STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF. Coordination of campus religious life including weekly ecumenical chapel services, advising of             religious and peace and justice issue groups, and pastoral counseling for students and faculty.

        INSTRUCTOR IN THE RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY DEPARTMENT. Taught Religion (REL) 235, The Presbyterian Heritage, REL 393, Global         Issues and Values, REL 365, Religion and Science, REL 451, Christian Life and Ethics, Interdisciplinary (IDIS)150, Arts and Humanities in Western             Culture, and IDIS 100, Liberal Arts Seminar for First Year Students. Coordinator of the Religious Education major.


ASSOCIATE PASTOR, Broad Street Presbyterian Church, Columbus, Ohio, 1980-1985. One of three ordained pastors in a 1300 member downtown church. Areas of responsibility included education, visitation, worship leadership and stewardship.

STUDENT ASSISTANT, Nassau Presbyterian Church, Princeton, New Jersey, 1977-1980. (1 year) and at Community Presbyterian Church, Edison, New Jersey (2 years) while in seminary.

ENGINEERING MANAGER, Burns & Roe, Inc., 1976-1977, an architectural engineering firm outside New York City, working on design of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant.

COMMANDER, UNITED STATES NAVY, 1967-1976. Submarine and nuclear engineering duties in locations around the world, including assignments as a Nuclear Reactor Safeguards Inspector (Hawaii) and Chief Engineer Officer of a nuclear submarine (Scotland).

CAPTAIN, U.S. NAVAL RESERVE, 1976-1988. Commanding Officer of a Submarine Support Detatchment of the USS L.Y. SPEAR (AS-36) in Dayton, Ohio, consisting of 130 technical and support ratings and 12 officers. Summer assignments in Washington, D.C., Norfolk, Virginia, and in La Maddalena, Italy. Retired in 1988.
